
The Community
The Riverside School District is comprised of the boroughs of Taylor and Moosic with a combined population of approximately 12,000. Both towns are predominantly residential areas bordering the southern boundary of Scranton, PA. The communities are minutes from the Pocono Mountain vacation centers and Steamtown National Historic Site. In addition, each town has its own tourist attractions: the Montage Mountain Ski Center and Lackawanna County Multi-Purpose Stadium are located in Moosic, while McDade Park which houses the Anthracite Museum and Coal Mine Tour is centered in Taylor. There are also ten schools of higher education within a 20 minute drive of either town.
The Schools
The Riverside School District operates three schools: Riverside Elementary East (Moosic) serving grades K through 6, Riverside Elementary West (Taylor) serving grades K through 4, and Riverside Junior-Senior High School (Taylor) serving grades 7 through 12.
All three schools are approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, also, Riverside Junior-Senior High School is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools.
