Mandatory Lessons Starting on 4/22/2020

  • Hi, everyone! Here is what's on our agenda for this week (4/20/2020).

    • Period 3 - ELA: Before you read, please complete the Figurative Language Warm-Ups worksheet. Explain the figurative meaning of each idiom/ adage and then use it in your own sentence. If you complete 4 per day, you will finish the worksheet by Friday. Then, refer to CommonLit for our next story, "The Long March" by Peggy King Anderson. The directions from CommonLit read as follows: "In 1838, the Potawatomi Indians were forced to leave their homelands and move far away. This text tells the story of one girl during that terrible event." As you read, take notes on the challenges that Equa-Ke-Sec faces. Practice making annotations by selecting/ highlighting parts of the text and typing a note for yourself.

Spend Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday reading and annotating. On Thursday, answer the assessment questions. On Friday, respond to the discussion. HAPPY READING!

    • Periods 4, 5/6, 8, 9 - Math: This week, we will complete our daily warm-up with 5-A-Day Math Review: Week 31. Then, we will complete a lesson called "Adding Integers." Picture the Integer Number Line in our classroom. It's on the right side of the white board and it runs up and down with 0 in the middle.

REMEMBER: When you ADD two NEGATIVE integers, add the numbers and keep the symbol. They answer will also be NEGATIVE. Adding a NEGATIVE really means you are just SUBTRACTING.

If you'd like to break up the work evenly each day, follow this schedule for completion:
      #s1-4: Monday
      #s 5-9: Tuesday
      #s 10-13: Wednesday
      #s 14-16: Thursday
      #s 17-20: Friday

The worksheet attachments can be found both here and on Google classroom.
