Dr. Daniel L. Gilroy is the Superintendent of Riverside School District, where he began serving on July 1, 2026. He has devoted nearly 25 years to public education in northeastern Pennsylvania in teaching, coaching, and school leadership roles.

Dr. Gilroy began his career in 2001 at St. Michael’s School for Boys as a social studies teacher and basketball coach. He later taught social studies at Valley View School District, where he coached football, baseball, and girls’ basketball.

His first administrative role was as assistant principal at Riverside Jr./Sr. High School. He later served as assistant principal at West Scranton High School, principal of Neil Armstrong Elementary School, and principal of South Scranton Intermediate School. While serving as a principal in the Scranton School District, he also served as president of the district’s Act 93 administration group.

Dr. Gilroy later served as superintendent of Forest City Regional School District before returning to Riverside as superintendent. He is currently a board member of the Pennsylvania Association of Rural and Small Schools (PARSS), a member of the Archbald Planning Commission, a member of the St. Patrick’s Parade Association of Lackawanna County, and an active member of Christ the King Parish in Archbald.

A graduate of Bishop O’Hara High School, Dr. Gilroy earned his undergraduate degree in political science from Wilkes University, where he was a student-athlete and a member of the varsity football team. He earned his master’s degree in school administration from the University of Scranton and his doctorate in educational leadership from Delaware Valley University.

He is a lifelong resident of Archbald, is the proud husband to Anne Marie Gilroy, and the father of Daniel Jr. and Brenna.
