Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Finalists!

Riverside School District congratulates Mr. Chris Feerrar, Graphic Arts teacher at Riverside Junior Senior High School. Mr Feerrar and his students have been chosen as one of five finalists to represent Pennsylvania in the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow contest.

The students, under the direction of Mr Feerrar are 3D printing parts to create Pet Wheel Chairs. They have reached out to several local pet rescue centers and they have all expressed a need for a variety of sized wheel chairs to have on hand. One particular rescue focuses on cats and mentioned that it is very hard to find any wheel chairs small enough for cats. Because of this the students are working on a design specifically for cats. They are in the middle of building their first prototype for average size pets with adjustable capabilities. This grant would allow the students to produce the number of pet wheel chairs needed locally.

The students’ Activity Plan will be judged based on the following criteria: Problem Applicability, Community Involvement/Impact, Application of STEM studies, Feasibility and Originality.
