• Google Classroom Information

    working from home

To log into Google Classroom, please follow the steps below:

    • Open a window in Google Chrome.

    • In the top right hand corner of the browser, you should see a 3x3 array.  This is Google app.  Click on this.

    • If you are not already signed in, click on the “account” icon to sign in with your child’s Riverside email and password.  Their email is their log in information – first 3 letters of their last name, first 3 letters of their first name, and the number 29 – and the “@riversidesd.com" after.  Their password is “Rsd” and their lunch number.

    • Once signed in, go back to those dots and click on “Classroom.”

    • Click on the box for our Math class (3 Math Whetstone).  If it is the first time that you are logging in, you will have to first select “join.”
      • There is a separate google classroom for my homeroom only.  This is for attedance purposes.

    • Once in the Google Classroom, click on the word “Classwork.”  It is located at the top of the screen, directly in the middle.  Click on the assignment you would like to work on.  The daily assignments will still be posted on my website by the week to keep organized, but the work to be completed will be done through here.  At the bottom of the expanded screen, click on view assignment.

Did you know there is a Google Classroom app available through the App Store for Apple devices and Google Play for other devices? It makes navigating the virtual classrooms easier and faster! Download the FREE app from the App Store or Google Play from the link below.

    MATH Google Meeting Times:

    • Our google meet link is located in our MATH google classroom.  It is in the banner at the top of the page under the words "All Periods."
    • Students in our class are virtual on Days 2, 4, 6.  On these days we will have an instructional google meet at the beginning of the class.  Please see the times listed below.  I record the first Google Meet of the day and post it before noon.  If your child cannot attend the google meet, they must watch this recorded version to help complete the lesson.
      • Period 1-2 Instructional Google Meet begins at 9:10am
      • Period 4-6 Instructional Google Meet begins at 11:05am
      • Period 7-8 Instructional Google Meet begins at 1:15 pm

    • Students in our math class that are on Tier 3 will have a quick Q/A Google Meet on days 1, 3, 5.  It will be at the end of the day just to check in (at 3:00pm).  On these days, there will be an instructional video posted for the lesson.

    Math Assignments on Google Classroom:

    • On most days, your child will see TWO assignments posted on Google Classroom.
    • The first assignment is called "Daily Math Bulletin."
      • This assignment states the objectives for the day and gives the students their instructions (in the form of MUST DO Activities).
      • You will also see "May Do Activities," "Game of the Day," and "Anytime Activities."  These are optional activities for additional practice.
      • When they have completed the work for the day, they need to click on the "mark as done" button for this activity.  This is for a particiaption grade.
    • The second assignment is called "Lesson ACI"
      • This is a graded assignment.
      • Students can use number grids, pieces of paper, templates, etc. to help with the questions.  A grown-up at home can read the questions, but please have your child complete this as independently as possible.  Calculators CANNOT be used on these assessments.
      • MOST lessons have an ACI.  If the lesson is an introductory lesson or a review, there will not be an ACI
    • Tier 3 students need to take a picture of their completed math journal page and send it to me on the remind app.  This will count as part of your child's homework grade.  If you haven't joined my remind app, please see the info on my homepage.

    • On virtual days, Tier 2 students will show me their math journal's on the next day in school.
