Book Reports: You will self select TWO books to read independently each quarter. I will require you to "LOCK IN" a title. Once you give me a title, you cannot change it. This is to make sure you don't wait until the last minute and then can't finish the book. It is also to make sure you are reading something that is appropriate for your reading level and ability. Plus, I don't want you to read anything you have already read in elementary school. Finally, it helps you to make a commitment and to see it through to the end.

Each Book Report has a different format. The directions will be given a week before it is due. If materials are lost, you will lose 5 points, but I will give you new papers. If your report is late, TEN points will be deducted each day it is late. 

Do not PLAGIARIZE!! The Internet SHOULD NOT be used to complete a report. Any part of a report that has been copied will not be given credit. I expect you to read the book and summarize it in YOUR OWN WORDS.  Cheating is NOT TOLERATED.

Accelerated Reader Requirements:

You will be required to take a minimum of TWO tests per quarter. Each test is worth 100 points. These tests will be on the book you select for your BOOK REPORT. Titles must be approved by me by deadline.  Any additional tests will count toward extra credit.

The more books you read, the more tests you can take. By taking additional tests, you can build your points. Every 10 points gets your name in the AR treat jar where you can win prizes (usually candy). I keep a list of students by class each quarter for the top points. End of quarter awards are given for most points, top average and also most improved after the 1st quarter.

**Top section students will need to earn the following minimum number of points BEFORE you can earn EXTRA Credit (1stQ: 10pts; 2nd Q 12 pts.; 3rd Q; 14 pts; 4th Q 16 pts). You will not be penalized if you don't meet the minimum, but you won't be able to earn extra credit. **
