*** Check out my Message Board for FYI, for Parents!

    Dear Parents,

Thank you for looking at my website.  Welcome back to the 2023/2024 school year.  I hope everyone had a restful, fun but safe summer.  I am excited to be back and can't wait to start the new school year.  As you may know, each student that I work with is unique.  Their needs may be similar or very different from another child's needs.  I am eager to work with each of them and hope to provide them with the tools they need to have a successful year, but I can't do that alone.  I’m writing to ask you, to help me become a partner with you in your child’s education this year. I would like to make the expectations and communications between home and school seamless and balanced.  This year I am teaching Reading and Language Arts and Math!   I will be teaching grade 5, Woo Hoo!  Can't wait.

My goal is to create a caring and safe classroom environment for your child and his/her classmates this year. When your child feels loved, accepted, and valued, the learning will naturally follow.  Please help me to be the best teacher I can be for your unique child by taking some time to write a letter to me with as much information that you would like to share with me about your child’s interests, talents, hobbies, and even school-related avoidances. Please  fill me in on your child’s weekly commitments outside of school so that we can plan homework time realistically.

Your letter may be handwritten or in the form of an email.  My email address is jgrace@riversidesd.com.  I  appreciate hearing from you in any form that is most comfortable for you.  Thank you for your time and partnership! I look forward to meeting you soon! I will be sending a contact sheet home for you to fill out.  Please return it with your child.

    Sincerely,

    Janet Grace

As summer break ends, many students will return to school with mobile devices, such as smart phones, tablets, and laptops. Although these devices can help students complete schoolwork and stay in touch with family and friends, there are risks associated with using them. However, there are simple steps that can help students stay safe while using their internet-connected devices. The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) recommends reviewing the following resources:
