    Lesson Objectives: The students will demonstrate:

    -How to bump

    -How to set

     

    Warm-up:

                The students will get in their assigned seating areas, and go through the routine of stretching.  Hanging straight down, then down to the right, left, and middle.  The students will then put their right foot over their left and hang down, and then they will switch.  The students will then proceed to sit on the floor.  The students will keep their legs straight, and touch their toes straight out in front.  Now they will spread their legs and go down to the right, then the left, and then the middle. The butterfly stretch will follow, and then they will end with spinal twisters. After all stretching the students will then do 10 crunches, and 10 push-ups.  Then they will begin a 4 minute jog.   

                           

    Guided Practice:

    -Demonstration of skills (bump, set)

    -Guided Discovery

                a) The students will get with a partner, and with the volleyball the students will toss the ball to each other to practice these skills.

               

    Closure:

                Answer any student questions about volleyball, and review the different types of hits in the game.

                a) The students will be put in teams, and in their teams they will use the skills they learned from the previous class in order to be successful in the game. 

                b) The students will rotate between nets on the teachers command.  The games will last approximately four minutes each.

                Answer any student questions about volleyball, and review the different types of hits in the game.

                a) The students will be put in teams, and in their teams they will use the skills they learned from the previous class in order to be successful in the game. 

                b) This will be the round robin tournament where the students will play a competitive game, and the teacher will keep track of the winners and losers.  The teacher will have the command on when we will rotate between nets.  The game will be played to the score of 15!

     

    Closure:

                Answer any student questions about volleyball.

    -All Star game!

    -The all stars will compete against another team’s class.

    -The students who are involved in the game will play against the opposing team, which is the visiting team.  The other students have the option to watch, walk around the red lines, or play a pick-up game on the other net. 

    -When the game is over the visiting team will go back to class, and the rest of the class will get together to play pick-up games, or walk around the red lines.

    -The teacher will remind the class that we are in between all-star games. 

    -The students will have the opportunity to play a volleyball game.  There will be two nets set-up, and the students will have the option to play on either court.  They will use the skills that we have taught them in their games.  If there is an all-star team that is still in competition than they are encouraged to get together, play a game against worthy competitors who will make them better.

    -The students who do not want to participate in the game will have the opportunity to walk around the gymnasium.  If they are walking around the gymnasium then they are to stay outside the red lines.

     

    Closure:
